On-line Training Materials for INGRES ===================================== Carole McMillan =============== INGRES is a powerful and complex relational database management system. It is well recognised that specialised training is needed for those staff and students who need to use it. The major objectives of the 'On-line Training Materials for INGRES' project were: to develop a set of training materials for the INGRES relational database management system (the 'INGRES Training Series') to enable staff and students to 'teach themselves' INGRES, and to develop an Information Server which would host a variety of different training materials suitable for on-line use, including the INGRES Training Series. These objectives have now been met, and the server and associated material are now in the final stages of completion. The server uses advanced communications technology, and INGRES material is available via several TCP/IP services, namely TELNET, Gopher and World Wide Web (WWW). You can access the server from the Lancaster University Information Service. Alternatively, you can access the server directly using a WWW client program.
