Guidelines for Training Materials Production Univ of Loughborough Dr Anne Mumford This collaborative project will bring together senior staff from Loughborough's University's Computer Centre,Staff Development Unit and Audio Visual Services.It will build on the experience already gained in the production of graphics support materials and will provide needed input to projects supported under the IT Training Initiative in addition to being of potential value as a reource for the general university IT training community. The intention is to create a short practical guide to the production of text and course-based training materials in various areas of computing.This will be produced in ring -binder form and will include advice,checklists and sample materials. One hundred copies will be provided for free distribution. The materials will be produced in time for use by those involved in material production under the Initiative. OBJECTIVES The prime objective is to develop the knowledge and skills of those staff involved in the production of computer related training materials and will be done by: . informing users of the skills and stages in the design, production and delivery of materials . demonstrating different approaches and identifying their strengths and weaknesses. . providing checklists, exercises and sample materials END PRODUCT The ring-binder will contain advice on: . the stages in the process of developing,producing and delivering text and computer-based training materials. . the pitfalls that may trap the unwary. . the internal processes required to ensure quality. . the basic principles of material design,production and delivery. . comparative costs of different approaches.
