Authoring Shell and Training for Hypermedia in Languages and Literature Oxford Univ Marilyn Deegan The Oxford hypermedia project will develop an authoring shell and allied training for the teaching requirements of academics in languages and literature. This shell will be based on standard hypermedia software (Guide and Hypercard to begin with). Existing systems were not designed specifically for academic use in the humanities and therefore need extensions in areas such as lexical handling, special fonts, etc. To assess the needs of academics a survey of current systems will be carried out and several academic `partnership' hypermedia projects are being set up. The partner academics will provide the academic content and materials from which we will build the systems. The projects we envisage cover medieval drama; women in the French Revolution; phonetics; and Old English and Old Icelandic texts. _______________________________________________________________________ | | | In general the copyright for material on the NISS Bulletin Board | | is held by the CHEST & NISS Centre (University of Bath) or by the | | authors. | | | | Copying or reproduction of the material is permitted provided that | | | | (a) the source is acknowledged | | and (b) the material is not used for commercial gain. | | | | However, material must not be made available outside the academic | | community without prior consent. | |_______________________________________________________________________|
