Aims and Objectives The aim of this package is to train prospective developers in the necessary CBL techniques and provide them with a comprehensive yet easy-to-use toolkit for authoring multimedia teaching materials. By the end of the course the user will: - know about the terminology used in CBL - know why one might use CBL for training and education - know about the different CBL approaches - know what learning paradigms underpin CBL approaches - know the CBL contexts of use - know about the issues involved in courseware design - know how to analyse, and design courseware - know how to use the supplied authoring tools to produce courseware - know about CBL technical issues (hardware, software and multimedia) - know about the evaluation of CBL materials Using the package The package provides approximately 20 hours of tuition. The structure of the package provides the user with a flexible learning and development environment. The computer based learning environment is supported by CBL modules and a CBL Builder. The courseware modules explore CBL concepts and techniques through demonstration and worked examples. The CBL Builder presents the opportunity for the student to practise the ideas introduced in the courseware modules. A key feature of the design will be the flexibility presented to the student. The user can access any part of the package from the table of contents.
