This two year project aims to develop a package of training
materials on using the JANET Network and the Information
Systems Committee funded networked services (at an introductory
     level).

The main objectives of the project are:
o To enable User Support Staff to train their users
               in the use of networks
o To enable users to follow a self-paced course
o To help promote the use of the network and the ISC
               funded networked facilities

There has been significant investment by the ISC over the last
few years in national services such as the National Public
Domain Software Archives, the NISS Bulletin Board and Software
Catalogue and the NISP Project's Mailbase Service. It is
important that the provision of these facilities is backed up
by a training programme to allow the broader academic community
to gain maximum benefit from these services. This project will
provide training materials for use by User Support Staff to
train their end users. Some of these materials will be
suitable for direct use by the end users themselves.

Liaison with and feedback from User Support Staff and the NISP
(Mailbase) project staff will form an important part of the
     project.
