EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY ENABLING UNIT Bristol Univ Adrian Longstaffe The aim of this project is to establish an Educational Technology Service at the University of Bristol. The overall aims will be: To support and enable academic staff to exploit computer-based learning technologies in their teaching in ways that are appropriate to their needs and aspirations. To enhance the quality of learning and the cost- effectiveness of teaching within the University by increasing the availability, utility and quality of computer-based courseware. Specific objectives: To raise awareness amongst staff of the potential of computers to enhance the quality of learning and to improve the cost-effectiveness of teaching. To train lecturing staff in appropriate applications of computers in teaching, including the use of authoring systems, the production of videodiscs, the integration of computer-based courseware into existing courses and the use of individual courseware packages. To disseminate information about existing courseware, its availability, quality and use. To act as a co-ordinator and facilitator to support the production of new courseware where no appropriate material exists.
