NETWORK TRAINING PACK

Unit 1 of the Network Training Pack is now available online
     for retrieval by anonymous ftp.

This unit, provides an introductory overview of networking
for use in stand-up training and a hands-on workshop. It is
pitched at the level of novice, but computer-literate,
     network users.

The Network Training Pack is being produced by the
NISP/ITTI Network Training Materials Project at Newcastle
University Computing Service. It is intended to assist
network trainers in the UK academic community in training
users to use the services on JANET and the worldwide
networks. The material is being produced in stages over the
next ten months and is available free for non-commercial
use, provided the copyright is acknowledged. It is expected
that trainers will tailor the material to suit their local
     requirements and conditions.

Unit 1 includes a presentation (produced with Microsoft
Powerpoint) comprising 'slides' and speaker's notes, notes on
demonstrations to show with the presentation plus
associated sample files, two sets of exercises to use in a
follow-up hands-on workshop, and text for a handout sheet
to give out after the presentation.
