Using Hypertext and Multimedia

              Information Technology and Training Initiative


     Using Hypertext and Multimedia is a computer information package
     containing help and advice on getting started in CAL production.
     It is not Guide specific, addressing issues of general relevance
     to CAL production, but also including several "Guide tips" for
     improving the use of Guide.

     Its subject sections are:

     1)Explaining the Jargon
     2) The Multimedia PC
     3) Media Sources
     4) Planning a CBL application
     5) Design Issues
     6) References

     Under 4) topics such as hard/software, Aims and Objectives,
     Storyboarding, Evaluation etc. are discussed.  Design issues
     includes topics such as  Aids to Learning, Flexibility in Design,
     Graphics etc .

     The package is designed to be used with Guide Reader and a copy
     of  Reader 3.1.2 is supplied with the main program. The target
     audience would be people who wish to know some of the jargon,
     techniques and problems of CAL development before commencing on
     a CAL project. The stand alone version requires approximately 3Mb
     of disk space and works on a 4Mb 386/486 machine.

     A network version is available and has been successfully
     installed and operated at Dundee.

     For experienced Guide developers, the above package can also act
     as a shell into which their own particular topics can be placed.
     All Logiix code in the package is accessible.
