FUNCTION of an IV UNIT University of Bristol Description This product is an A4 booklet covering the key areas involved in implementing and running an interactive video unit with suggestions for success and failure. Target audience The booklet is intended for people who want to deliver computer based learning (CBL) material to many users. It may also be useful for anyone already delivering CBL material in this way. Objectives The booklet is intended to guide the reader through some of the key decisions which need to be made when setting up and running a CBL facility. It will help the reader establish a successful and popular unit and suggests some of the pitfalls to be avoided. Contents The interactive video unit at Bristol Medical School was setup in 1987. The importance of senior management attitudes is discussed, followed by sections on the day to day functions, support for other departments, creation of learning material, evaluation, access, use by students and, finally, guidance on initial funding requests.
