A FRAMEWORK FOR THE DEVELOPMENT CORE IT SKILLS FOR UNIVERSITY STAFFS ITTI Product Description A written report entitled 'A Framework for the Development of Core IT Skills for University Staffs' The report is the outcome of an ITTI project based at the University of Durham on 'IT Skills for University Staffs' Objectives To review current training provision To identify training needs To develop an approach to IT training capable of meeting these needs Outcome A report recommending appropriate levels of core IT skills requirements for all university staffs as suggested by the higher education community, together with proposals for an approach to training which would be capable of meeting these needs. Contents The main parts of the report are: Part 1 - Planning the Project Part 2 - The Methodology Part 3 - The Institutional Environment Part 4 - Responses From Institutions Part 5 - The Training Programme The 9 Appendices, include a list of institutions consulted, guidelines for the project, selected comments from institutions on aspects of IT training, and examples of training modules. The project involved working closely with a number of universities, both 'old' and 'new'. There were initial discussions with 25, of which 16 partcipated actively in the project by undertaking internal consultation exercises which contributed to the proposals in the report.
