Background
This project "The Role of Virtual Learning Environments in the Online Delivery of Staff Development" was funded by J-TAP, the JISC - Technology Applications Programme. The original proposal drew on our experience of delivering staff development during the SHEFC funded TALISMAN project, and was influenced by the publication of the Dearing report of the National Committee of Inquiry into Higher Education (the Dearing report) which in turn recommended the establishment of an Institute for learning and Teaching in Higher Education.
