In order to allow users to Refine Searches it was agreed to attempt to implement Post Search Clustering of results via Resource type as illustrated below.

The following was agreed as a good starting point;

1. A ‘Results Clusters' box is present on all ‘Results' pages for searches which occur across ALL collections

2. For clarity no ‘Results Cluster' box is presented on the ‘Results Summary Pages' [Our discussion deemed this to be too complex]

3. For an Advanced Search or for a Basic search with a Resource type filter selected there are two options (no firm agreement yet made on which to pursue);

a). Preferred option – No ‘Results Clusters' are offered and results are unchanged from the present (exception to this is when an ‘ALL' Collections are selected in an advanced search – then clusters can be offered.

b)Other Option – an ‘ALL' search is done in the background and cluster options are offered on the ‘Results Display' pages. However why do this when the user has specifically selected a resource type or a set of databases to search?
