UK Higher Education Funding Councils' Information Technology Training Initiative

The UK HE Funding Councils fund a number of Initiatives to help bring about more effective use of new technology in all aspects of a university's work.

In 1991 the University Funding Councils funded a 3m pound initiative over a three year period (ITTI) to improve the availability of training materials for the use of IT in UK Higher Education Institutions.

The initiative has funded twenty nine projects at Universities throughout the United Kingdom. These projects are, in the main, producing quality paper based and computer based products in areas such as:-

IT Application Skills Training (eg Geographic Information Systems, Statistics and Graphics)
Basic IT Skills
Multimedia and Hypertext courseware development tools and training.
Professional IT Skills Training for UNIX, X-Windows and Networking
